Sophisticated online, real-time payment gateways enable merchants to process
transactions securely over the Internet by using encryption and secure sockets
layer (SSL) technology and reduce the likelihood of fraudulent credit card
activity.

Fraud protection features, such as Address Verification Service (AVS),
MasterCard® card validation code 2 (CVC2) and Visa® card
verification code 2 (CVV2), enable merchants to verify a cardholders’ specific
information at the time of authorization. When processing a transaction a code
specific to the credit cards and cardholder is verified with the issuing bank
for authorization to minimize Internet and mail order/telephone order (MOTO)
fraud.
The LinkPoint® Secure Payment Gateway performs numerous fraud checks
to determine common patterns, while allowing merchants to lock out specific
credit card numbers and Internet protocol (IP) addresses. Merchants can also
create a negative database file of high-risk customers and/or card numbers.
